This piece is a redesigned vinyl cover for Smashing Pumpkins’ Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness album. I selected this album because Smashing Pumpkins was the first band that truly captivated me and introduced me to much of the music I’ve cherished over the years. With this redesign, I saw an opportunity for creative freedom—reimagining a beloved album through a unique visual lens that reflects both the emotional depth of the music and my personal connection to it. I aimed to preserve the ethereal and whimsical tone of the original cover while further exploring the tension between space and form. This was achieved through a nebulous, dreamlike background paired with surreal, cut-out imagery to enhance the sense of ambiguity and imagination.
